At the World Government Summit 2025, the UAE introduced its new “Blue Residency”. This 10 year long visa the first of its kind in the world was designed exclusively for experts in the environmental science field and renewable energy. The innovative initiative, unveiled at the World Government Summit in Dubai, officially commenced when Blue Residency was awarded to 20 distinguished environmental specialists and innovators. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, commented:

We believe this initiative will help us achieve our ambitious climate action and environmental conservation goals.”

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, highlighted how this initiative aligns with the “We the Emirates 2031” vision:
