Authorities of the UAE have announced that Sheikh Shakbout Medical City will be welcoming patients in November 2019. It is interesting to note that the area is about 300,000sqm offering a new 723-bed facility that is the largest hospital of the UAE. The hospital is located in Abu Dhabi and is set to provide world-class specialist care using a variety of clinical practices.
The UAE has begun the construction of the multi-specialty hospital in 2011. The hospital will suggest special amenities such as:
- Two presidential suites
- 36 VIP suites
- An advanced center for wound treatment
- 18 surgical rooms
- natural and premature birth department
The first phase of the hospital will start working from November 3. It includes ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, neurological, cardiology and gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary clinics. The second phase will be launched on November 17. However, all the departments at this phase will start working by January 9, 2020.
The hospital will include 4 main sectors including emergency and intensive care, outpatient services, maternity and children and acute surgical. As well as these, the hospital will offer several specialized areas including:
- chest and trauma treatment
- pulmonology and orthopaedic
- plastic surgery
- vascular surgery
- cardiac services
The outpatient clinics will be welcoming over 2,500 visitors each day.
The high-tech hospital will function under the Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha). Also, it should be said that it is located within about 50 minute drive from key destinations. These places include Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain and Dhafra area. Besides, the hospital is situated near the Mafraq Hospital. This means that it will have a medical research center as well as 132 beds to serve ICU and NICU referrals.
Moreover, the hospital will provide state of the art facilities for burn treatment. This makes the hospital the only center with such advanced facilities in the country.
Dr Ateq Ali Al Musaabi is the chief of surgery and trauma and deputy chief medical officer of the Sheikh Shakhboot Medical City. According to Dr Ateq Ali Al Musaabi, this section includes head and neck, tumors, endocrinology, rheumatism and respiratory diseases, blood, bones, urology and nephrology, cardiovascular, gastroenterology and other disciplines.
Dr Al Musaabi has also said that the hospital is equipped with a surgical robot. It means doctors will be able to perform many types of sophisticated procedures with the highest level of speed, efficiency and precision.
Al Mussabi also noted that the new hospital will replace Mafraq Hospital. By beginning of next year, all the patients will be transferred to newly-built hospital when it is fully functional.
According to the above, the UAE will be one of the most livable countries in not too distant future. The UAE will be a leader not only in the region, but also in the world in any aspect including medical, scientific and economic.
