The Dubai Walk Master Plan has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The plan is a future looking move to turn Dubai into a walkable city. His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE and First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also attended.<\/p>\n

The Dubai Walk Master Plan focuses on accessibility, safety and an enjoyable walking experience, creating an integrated network of walkways with uninterrupted paths and extensive green areas.<\/p>\n

Vision and Goals of the Plan<\/h2>\n

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized that improving the quality of life in Dubai remains one of the key objectives of the emirate\u2019s strategic vision. He highlighted that innovative infrastructure and the creation of unique destinations strengthen Dubai\u2019s global position, making it the top city for living, working and visiting.<\/p>\n

He stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have approved the Dubai Walk Master Plan, a 6,500 km network of modern walkways covering 160 areas across the emirate. The plan includes constructing 3,300 km of new walkways and rehabilitating 2,300 km of existing ones by 2040, in addition to more than 900 km of walkways planned beyond 2040. It also involves developing 110 pedestrian bridges and underpasses to enhance connectivity. This ambitious plan aims to increase pedestrian and soft mobility from 13% to 25% by 2040.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He added: \u201cDubai is a city of the future, committed to creating a healthy and happy urban environment. The Dubai Walk Master Plan promotes active lifestyles and provides exercise opportunities for all, making walking a central part of our culture and daily lives. This vision will position Dubai as one of the world\u2019s healthiest and most sustainable cities.<\/p>\n

Dubai Walk Master Plan Details<\/h2>\n

Implementation Phases:
\nThe master plan will be implemented in three phases from 2025 up to 2040. Pilot phase 2025\u20132027 will see the creation of 17 km pathways along two major routes.<\/p>\n

  1. Al Ras Historical Route: It is a 15-km path showcasing the history of the emirate, 5 km along the revived waterfront with 25 public squares displaying green spaces, showcases of art and shaded resting areas.<\/li>\n
  2. The Future Loop at the Museum of the Future: This 2-km-long, 6 to 15 meters wide elevated walkway will link the Museum of the Future with key spots, including the Dubai World Trade Centre, Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and metro stations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Improving Connectivity and Infrastructure<\/h2>\n
